Purple Loosestrife - Lythrum salicaria
If you live outside of the range map we have indicated for purple
loosestrife, do not feel too safe---smaller populations of the plant
have been found in each of the
lower forty-eight states (except for Florida).
Purple Loosestrife is a pretty plant that was once used in horticulture.
But soon its invasive nature emerged and it spread throughout the
waterways of the northeastern US. It is such a troublesome plant it is
illegal to grow in many states!
