Index to listserve discussions on line (Nationwide) --------------------------------------- 1. Help with Asiatic Sand Sedge (Maryland) From: Chris Lea (chris_lea(at)nps.gov) I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has research or management experience with control of Asiatic Sand Sedge (Carex kobomugi), an invasive species of coastal dunes in the mid-Atlantic region. This species is apparently an incipient invader at Assateague Island National Seashore and shows signs that it may rapidly expand. It is featured on a Virginia Native Plant Society/Virginia Division of Natural Heritage invasive plant fact sheet, and we have followed some of those recommendations. ---Larry Morse adds that Kartesz (1999) records Carex kobomugi from several Atlantic Coast states (MA, RI, NJ, MD, VA, and NC). --------------------------------------- 2. New York conference on invasive species (New York) From: Cris Winters (cwinters(at)tnc.org) The Invasive Species Council in New York state is sponsoring a meeting at New York State Museum, 26-29 April, in Albany. To learn more about this conference, look at the conference web page and the conference schedule in particular. Conference main page: http://www.nysm.nysed.gov/nhc.html Conference schedule: http://www.nysm.nysed.gov/nhc_sched.html --------------------------------------- 3.
